SHEA'S WEEKLY SCHEDULE 6/11-15

A DAY: M, W. F
French
Chemistry
(Adv Weight Lifting)

B DAY: lTu, Th
US History
Algebra II
English
(Choir)

What Happened Friday:
US History - continued to work in class on her project.  She has decided to do a scrapbook and now has all the physical material she needs after doing a little shopping with Mom this weekend.

Algebra II - The class got a final exam study guide in addition to the QUEST review sheet already provided.

English - continued work on podcast

Work Completed this Weekend:
I had work-related events Fri night and on Sat through 5pm.  By Sat night Shea said she did a little work on her US History project and some Alg II problems from her study sheet.  She picked back up starting at 3pm on Sun and finished her French journal entries and Adv Weight Training assignment, and then we had a 2.5 hour study session for the Chem Quad Quiz on Monday.  She is strong on solubility curves and mass by percentage (esp. when the solution equivalent is given in grams) but a little shaky on molarity (though she can do the straightforward problems if the formula is given.

Kudos to Ms. Furlong for helping me understand mL conversion and molarity.  I send out an all-hands-on-deck email Sun morning after my Fri morning email to Mr. J, and Ms. responded Sun evening:

Hi Kevin and Shea -

Problem #1:  % by mass = (g solute / total grams solution) x 100

since water has a density of 1 g/mL then 250 mL = 250 g

% by mass = (35 g potassium nitrate / 285 g solution) x 100

Problem #2:  Molarity = moles solute / liter solution

step 1 - convert 35 g KNO3 into moles using molar mass of KNO3

step 2 - then divide moles by 0.250L

Hope that helps!

Sincerely - Mrs. Furlong

Upcoming Work:
Monday Night - Ms. R coming tonight - big study session for QUEST.  Hopefully nothing specific is due in US History or English so Shea can focus just on this exam.  Note:  I have extra copies of the QUEST Review and Final Exam study sheets if something happens to the originals.

Longer Term:
US History - Journalism in Vietnam project
French - Final Exam  - Biography
English - podcast work
Chem - not sure, will there be a big final exam??
